Push Med Wrist Brace Splint For Distal Radial Fractures

Wearing a wrist brace can increase your physical strength when you're suffering from a condition, but its effectiveness is dependent on whether the splint fits you properly. The Push Med Wrist Brace Splint provides an anatomical fit so you can get the support you need. This also helps ensure the splint remains in position while you move.

The Best Brace For Distal Radial Fractures

For a condition as serious as a distal radial fracture, optimal fit and stability is required. The Push Med Wrist Brace Splint offers the highest level of support and protection a wrist support can provide, without impeding the movement of your fingers.

What is a Distal Radial Fracture?

The radius is one of two forearm bones and is located on the thumb side. The part of the radius connected to the wrist joint is called the distal radius. When the radius breaks near the wrist, it is called a distal radius fracture.

Other Names For a Distal Radial Fracture

The name of a distal radial fracture can vary depending on what angle the distal radius is at when it breaks. Two common types are known as the Colles' fracture and the Smiths fracture.

Sizing of the Push Med Wrist Brace

The Push Med Wrist Splint comes in four different sizes for the right and left wrist. Measure the circumference of your wrist where the lower forearm meets the hand and use the sizing table below to select the correct size.

Size Wrist Circumference (cm)
Small 13 - 15cm
Medium 15 - 17cm
Large 17 - 19cm
Extra Large 19 - 21cm

For best results, make sure you select the correct size for you.

What Type of Closure Does the Med Wrist Brace Splint Have?

The Med Wrist Brace Splint has a wraparound strap with a strong Velcro closure. Despite being very secure, the closure is quite large, making it easy to apply and adjust whenever needed.

Applying the Brace

For a demonstration on fitting your Push Med Wrist Brace Splint, please watch the video below:

How Do You Adjust the Spoon?

The spoon stay is made from Thermolyn, a synthetic material that can be shaped both in a cold and warm state. When cold, tap the spoon into the desired shape with a hammer. To heat the spoon for shaping, ensure the material reaches approximately 160°C, by placing it in an oven or using a hair dryer.

Which Other Conditions Can Benefit from the Med Wrist Brace Splint?

The Push Med Wrist Brace Splint offers optimum support and protection. While it is more than capable of addressing the symptoms of a distal radial fracture, it can also help with other conditions, including:

  • Therapy-resistant strain complaints of the wrist extensors
  • Moderate to serious rheumatoid complaints
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Repetitive strain injuries

How Comfortable Is the Med Wrist Brace Splint?

The fabric of the Med Wrist Brace Splint is made of Sympress, which is formulated for maximum comfort and flexibility, making it suitable for long-term use. Padded areas on the brace also cover more vulnerable areas for absolute cushioning protection.

Will This Brace Make My Arm Too Warm?

The brace is made of a light, breathable material that will help to stop the covered area from overheating. Microfibres also add a soft touch and keep your skin dry and sweat-free.

What If I Need To Adapt The Brace?

Sometimes you may need to adapt your brace for an individual purpose. Always consult a specialist before making any changes.

Should I Consult My Doctor Before Using This Brace?

For more serious injuries like a distal radial fractures, always consult your doctor or physical therapist before using the Med Wrist Brace Splint. Your condition may require a diagnosis or more extensive treatment.

Washing Instructions

Close the Velcro and remove the splint before washing the brace. It can be placed on a delicate fabrics cycle at temperatures up to 30°C, or washed by hand. After placing it in a gentle spin-dry cycle, the brace can be hung to air dry.

Keeping The Push Brace In Good Condition

Always check your Push Brace before applying it for signs of wear and tear. To extend its service life, dry it after use if necessary and store it safely away. Never expose it to a heat source or tumble drier.

Just the job!

This splint provided the perfect support for my distal radius wrist fracture. It is high quality and washed well in a delicates wash. Far superior to the splint provided by the NHS, in terms of quality and design for purpose.
